Carpet detection automatically increases power when it detects rugs, and the dual side brushes help to clean debris from corners.

The mopping performance is a little less impressive, but not by a lot. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and makes use of 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stains. I've also noticed that the front arms stick out a bit more than other robots, which can be helpful to get into tight corners and on baseboards. The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive in our review. It does however, have some unique features which make it worth considering. The X1 Omni is notable for its massive dock that serves as an charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks that are 4 liters in size. It also houses a 2.5-liter dustbin and an 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.

The base also has a variety of control buttons that let you manually start a cleaning job and then recall the robot or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Press two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents worried about their children playing with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums the Omni Omni uses its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more accurate at recognising objects.

The X1 can be prone to become stuck when it gets caught in a hazard like a power cable tangled over a rug. It will not work until you untangle it manually. This was a rare occurrence, but frustrating nonetheless, because the X1 doesn't have an "stuck status" alert on its app.

The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad but mopping pads don't get cleaned or dried between uses. This could lead to mildew and mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed the sleek modern base and mopping pad. It's a big departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It's also an impressive sight in a market dominated by clunky boxes.
