Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?

A lightweight double pushchair makes it simple to get around, particularly for families with children of various age groups. They are easy to fold, steer and carry up and down stairs.

If you prefer a more compact and lightweight double, you can try the egg2 which folds to the size of a small suitcase. It can be used as a double or single by adding 2 baby car seats or carrycots. Our home testers were impressed with the ease of move even with a full load of children.

Double pushchairs with side-by-side seating aren't 100% foolproof, howeverIf your children are at the same age or stage, they might be fighting over who gets to ride in which seat. Tandem lightweight double strollers will typically have tighter turning capabilities than side-by-side models. However, they could be harder to drive on uneven surfaces or curbs. They can also be slower to accelerate and more heavy to move. This can put strain on your back.

Another alternative is a convertible double buggy, which is initially one-person, but you can add adapters to make it into a double. They can include an additional seat, a carrycot or both in front. The children can sit together. Some can also consider adding a buggyboard, which can help an older child keep pace with younger siblings or brothers.

Some are also easier to turn than others, with the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double, for instance.

Convertible

Convertible double pushchairs are fantastic because they can be adjusted to the changing requirements of families. They typically start as single buggies, but come with adapters to add an additional seat, a carrycot, or (in certain cases) the car seat to the frame. Some can be converted back to a single when your older child starts to walk or chooses to ride a buggyboard.

However, they noticed that the seats' backs have small pockets that are not big enough to hold much more than a cell phone and keys.

This high-end, lightweight side-by-side can be used in more than 20 different configurations, and comes with a second seat and carrycot. Its impressive feature set includes an ergonomic handlebar with a high profile for better steering; front and rear suspension to smooth rough terrain; a self-standing compact fold that has straps that make it easy to schlep and seven-inch swing lock front wheels and back wheels that measure 10 inches with suspension for a smoother ride. The only downside is that you'll need purchase a separate baby carriage or car seat.

This versatile tandem is the top choice of our home testers due to the fact that it is simple to maneuver and features a large shopping basket that is accessible from both seats when they are in the parent-facing positions. Its lightweight weight (about the same as some single pushchairs) makes it a breeze to move around. Reversible seats mean you can switch them around to face either direction, and the clever way it attaches the second seat or riding board to the rear is appreciated by many. Parents also appreciated the fact that it can accommodate infant carriers and car seats from multiple brands, including those which aren't usually fit in other double buggies.
